Why we value your privacy

We value your privacy as much as we do our own, so we’re committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. We only ask for the information we need from you. CAPS will explain what a person’s personal information will be used for in our Privacy Notices (links below) and will not use it for any other purpose. Our Data Protection Policy and Confidentiality Policy give more detail on how we handle information throughout the organisation.

How we collect information on this website

We ask for necessary information including your name, email address, and phone number, on our website so that we can reply to your enquiries or confirm that you are a real person.

We collect your email address when you contact us or sign up for one of our newsletters.

We might receive your contact information from a friend, family member or someone else involved in your life. If we do, we protect it the same way as we would if you give it to us directly.

Our website doesn’t use cookies or scripts to track the websites you visit. Likewise, we don’t use analytics or social media ‘like’ or ‘sharing’ buttons that profile internet activity.

Where we store your information

When you contact us by email or through our website, we store your information securely. In Individual Advocacy we have dedicated Case Management Software. We use the Email Blaster system to manage our newsletters. We chose these systems partly for their commitment to security. The Data Protection Policy explains in detail how we keep your information safe.

What we use the information you submit through this website for

We use your contact information to send you details of services you have enquired about, for example when you sign up for our newsletter or request an advocacy service. But if you tell us not to, we won’t get in touch again. For more detail on what we use your information for please see Privacy Notices below.

Who’s responsible for your information at CAPS

Who has access to information about you

When we store information in our own systems, only the people who need it have access. Our management team have access to everything you’ve provided, but individual employees have access to only what they need to do their job.

We take complaints very seriously. If you’ve any reason to complain about the website, please contact Catherine Street by email at catherine@capsadvocacy.org. If you’re the letter writing type, send your envelope to CAPS Independent Advocacy, Old Stables, Eskmills Park, Station Road, Musselburgh, EH21 7PQ or simply mark your envelope ‘FREEPOST CAPS’.
