This year’s conference will focus on the power of Independent Advocacy.

If you work in mental health, either in the third sector or public sector, or you’re involved in commissioning services, it’s an essential opportunity for learning. You’ll find out how Collective Advocacy supports Edinburgh’s aspirations for improving the mental health of its citizens. You’ll get to understand the unique approach that Collective Advocacy takes and how it puts power in the hands of marginalised people. The need for mental health services is increasing across the country. Independent Advocacy has a vital role to play in supporting people’s mental health and easing the strain on primary care services. Attend the conference to understand how Independent Advocacy protects human rights, challenges stigma, and changes systems!

If you have yourself experienced a mental health issue you’ll find plenty of like-minded people at the conference. It’s an important opportunity for Collective Advocacy group members to catch up and find out what the organisation as a whole is up to. CAPS seeks to welcome people with mental health issues into the Collective Advocacy community. Whether that’s just for the day or if you want to find out more about joining Collective Advocacy, or simply to support CAPS, we hope that as many people as possible who have experienced mental health issues will attend the day. It will be a relaxed and informative event and a chance to celebrate together.

Whatever your relationship to CAPS or if you’ve never been involved with us before, you’re very welcome to attend! Please contact catherine@capsadvocacy.org to book your free place.

The conference is on 12 November and will start with lunch at 12noon. It will be followed by the business of the AGM at 4.45-5pm. CAPS members are encouraged to attend.
