Workshops on intersectionality and mental health from a lived experience perspective. The event will feature guidance on how to improve your practice to be inclusive of Minority Ethnic and LGBTQIA+ communities.
This session is aimed at professionals working in mental health. And is aimed at those who are looking to improve inclusivity for LGBTQIA+ and Minority Ethnic communities in their practice.
When we say, ‘intersectionality in mental health’, this means recognising that people are made up of multiple identities depending on race, gender, disability etc. These different identities can interact and affect mental health and needs in support in different ways. So we must see people as a whole person and understand additional power imbalances that may be present.
The event is part of ThriveFest3. CAPS’ LGBTQIA+ collective advocacy group and Minority Ethnic collective advocacy group have collaborated to create this event.
