The Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition (OOSOOM) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. It is an annual multi-media exhibition at Summerhall. It shows artworks made by people who have lived experience of mental health issues. The exhibition is organised by a Planning Group, facilitated by CAPS Independent Advocacy.
Out of Sight Out of Mind 2022
The first OOSOOM in 2013 took place in the old animal hospital at Summerhall. It is now the biggest exhibition of its kind in Scotland.
The 2022 exhibition will take place over three floors in Summerhall. It will show artworks made by well over 100 people, in different medias – film, painting, sculpture, installation and more.
Earlier in the year we commissioned film maker Isa Rao who will make a short film about the 10 years of this project. She will interview several people involved in the project from 2013 and some involved now. The exhibition will also feature an ‘exhibition within an exhibition’ which will share the journey and the activist roots of this unique project with visual material relating to all 10 years of the exhibition.
The organisers have carried forward the exhibition’s ethos of creating a space for people with experience of mental health issues to have their voices heard through the arts. In 2022 OOSOOM still stands proud and holds up high whatever is expressed, be it anger or joy, or whatever else.
Events and opening times to be announced.
